The meal delivery platform Uber Eats has just launched three new features, available worldwide, and in France for two of them.

Uber Eats is taking advantage of the upcoming arrival of summer to stock up on new features, with three new features presented on Monday on the sidelines of its annual “Go/Get” event, with the aim of ” offer the best possible experience in terms of food delivery and groceries “.

The Google Assistant is coming to Uber Eats

The first of the novelties of Uber Eats is voice control. The developers assumed that it could be successful, as users of the service could have their hands taken. So how does this work?

Uber has simply integrated the Google Assistant into its application. Thus, all you have to do is say “OK Google” for the process to be launched and the user only has to ask his phone to order what he wants, within the limits of nearby restaurants or merchants. from the app, of course.

If, for the moment, the voice command is only accessible in English (the other languages will arrive in the coming months, we are assured), it is available for French users.

At the stadium, order your meal from your seat

Uber Eats now offers its users the possibility of ordering from the application, directly in the stadiums. The principle consists of ordering your meal during a match, then picking it up directly from one of the snack bars in the venue, without having to queue. And of course, the app notifies the viewer as soon as their order is ready.

At the moment, this functionality is limited to certain stages. In France, you can enjoy it from Roazhon Park in Rennes. New stadiums will offer it in turn quite quickly.

Autonomous delivery confirmed… but for France, we will have to wait

Finally, Uber Eats has kept its promise made at the end of 2021 on autonomous delivery, since the company announces that it has set up two pilots in Los Angeles. Robots from the company Serve Robotics perform so-called “contactless” deliveries, over short distances and moving only on sidewalks. For an arrival in France, it will obviously be necessary to be patient, for obvious regulatory questions.

It should also be noted that the firm Motional is in the process of building fleets of autonomous electric vehicles that will eventually be able to drive on the streets, perhaps all over the world.
