Ubisoft delays one of the most anticipated games for gamers

Ubisoft has just unveiled its activities as well as its financial performance for Q1 2022-2023. In the middle of the few hundred million euros are information on current and future licenses, including a highly anticipated game from the public which has unfortunately – and in the greatest discretion – been postponed.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora delayed

As Ubisoft’s press release states, the highly anticipated Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is therefore postponed to an indefinite date in 2023-24without giving masses of details.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will now be released in 2023-24. We are committed to delivering a cutting-edge immersive experience that takes full advantage of next-gen technology, as this incredible global entertainment brand represents a major multi-year opportunity for Ubisoft.

[…] While this additional development time reflects the current constraints on productions across the industry, we are working hard to arrange the most efficient working conditions to ensure both the flexibility of our teams and a high productivity while providing the best experiences for gamers. »

A good year for Assassin’s Creed

Apart from the bad news about Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Ubisoft’s press release contains a lot of information, even if it’s mostly a recap of announcements we already knew:

  • Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is still waiting for October 20 on Nintendo Switch,
  • The announcement of Tom Clancy’s The Division: Resurgencethe free-to-play mobile game with a story parallel to that of The Division franchise,
  • The different test phases rather well received by players of other Ubisoft free-to-play games, XDefiant, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Mobile and The Division Heartland,
  • The return of Skull and Boneswhich will be released on November 8,
  • And finally the announcement of Ubisoft Forward on September 10with more news and announcements.

Ubisoft also talks about franchises and other games that did well financially during this first term. The performance of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege and the Assassin’s Creed franchise exceeded the group’s expectations, which took the opportunity to teaser the future of the series.

We saw a significant increase in overall engagement [sur Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Origins et Valhalla], with double-digit growth in active players over last year as players are excited about the start of the brand’s 15th anniversary campaign. This campaign will be marked by a series of celebrations for the community throughout the summer that will lead to the unveiling of the future of Assassin’s Creed in September during a very special event. »

Finally, among all this content, a small discreet sentence slipped: ” We have also decided to release in 2023-24 a small unannounced premium game, originally planned for 2022-23. »

Could it be the mysterious Project Rift ? Case to follow.
