Ubisoft delays the release of The Settlers

Announced during gamescom 2018, The Settlers, reboot of the eponymous saga, sees its release date postponed again. Expected for the first time in 2020, the return of the series will not take place on March 17, 2022 either.

In a press release on the game’s official website, Ubisoft Düsseldorf studios explain that the recent closed beta has brought to light a quality of play below the team’s expectations. The release date of this new opus of the real-time construction and strategy game has therefore been postponed to an as yet undetermined date.

The Settlers, supposed to mark the renewal of the franchise, has its origins in the third and fourth installments of the series. Three factions will be playable – the Elari, the Maru and the Jorn – in a narrative campaign where you will have to lead your army to victory. The game will also feature a challenge mode as well as the ability to play online with up to 8 players.

Hello to all The Settlers fans,

The recent Closed Beta was a great opportunity for participating players to share their feedback on the current state of the game, and we want to thank you for your involvement.

Reviewing these comments has made it clear to our team that the quality of the game is not yet in line with the team’s vision. Because of this, we have made the decision to postpone the release of the game to a later date to provide players with the best gaming experience possible.

We’ll update you in due course, and we’ll share more details on the next steps for The Settlers.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Your team “The Settlers”
