Ubisoft formalizes its new game to silence the rumors

Two years after the failure of Hyper Scape, several rumors announced the release of a new Battle Royale on Ubisoft’s side. Finally, it is a “Battle Arena” in question. Yes, there is a difference.

It’s now official, Ubisoft announces the colors of its next free-to-play: Project Q. We already know that, unlike Hyperscape, this is a Battle Arena and not a Battle Royale. The game is in production. This Saturday, April 23, the French studio reacted on Twitter in full transparency following the rumors that had been echoing for a few days.

A Battle Arena is a genre of online multiplayer video game, two teams must compete in an arena to achieve victory. Ubisoft is planning a 4v4 zone capture with points to win.

Emphasizing the leak with humor (“ we heard you were aware “), Ubisoft confirms that Project Q is in production. It’s a Battle Arena and not a Battle Royale in question, even if the second is optional (between 4 duos).

As a reminder, the famous leaker Tom Henderson had released some rumors about the game: a first image and a 10-minute gameplay sequence had leaked. These suggested that the artistic direction of the game would be very colorful, like a Overwatch or a Fortnite.

A new chance for Ubisoft?

Ubisoft had failed to convince its community with Hyperscape. The game announced on July 3, 2020 could not attract enough players and finally resigned itself to closing its doors, less than a year later. The studio had said about it: We have made the difficult decision to end development of Hyper Scape and shut down the game effective April 28. »

With Project Q (temporary name of the game), Ubisoft hopes to win back its fans, and reassures: there will be no NFT in this game. The Battle Arena will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series XIS, XboxOne and PC.

For the moment, the game is still at an early stage, new features should arrive soon. However, it is possible to register on the official Ubisoft website to be informed of the progress of the project.
