Last September, Ubisoft finished celebrating the 15th anniversary of the license Assassin’s Creed with many projects announced. Among them, Assassin’s Creed Mirage scheduled for 2023, as well as more details regarding Infinity, the live-service game featuring all upcoming titles. However, and one could suspect it, many other games are in the works. Three of them have already been announced, while a final one, Invictusbecame known in October.
At a time when Ubisoft’s financial results are mixed, the company wants to be able to capitalize on a strong license and is counting on Assassin’s Creed. After having canceled multiple projects, it is therefore no surprise that we learn via an Insider Gaming survey that the company wants to focus on what works. Thus, the studios of Sofia, Chengdu and Annecy have all three launched new projects for the assassins.
If Project Nebula, developed by Sofia should be a solo title visiting India, the Aztec empire and the Mediterranean, the other two studios are tackling a more difficult task. On the one hand, a 4-player cooperative free-to-play with Project Raid from Ubisoft Chengdu, on the other a fully multiplayer game in Annecy with Project Echoes. Suffice to say that there is plenty to do, and that this will necessarily lead the series to return to an annual release for its titles. With a VR episode which would also be in development, it is clear that Ubisoft is fully relying on this license to get by.
