Ubisoft makes a very sad announcement

Ubisoft is once again hit hard by the difficulties of the video game industry and is causing a lot of damage. This will never stop…

This comes as no surprise to anyone, but the video game industry is in crisis. Ubisoft is no exception, since as we already explained to you a few months ago, it was forced to make mass layoffs. Last November, nearly a hundred positions were eliminated, mainly in administrative services, the IT team, as well as the special effects studio, in their Montreal teams (in particular). Layoffs that the group had justified with a vast reorganization plan; which should not impact current productions. However, the company announces a new wave of layoffs.

Ubisoft is losing more employees

These are close again 45 positions which were eliminated, in the “central global publishing structures and [Asie-Pacifique] » reported the company in a press release. The group once again invokes its restructuring plan and explains that it is obliged to adapt to the market, and that this sometimes requires drastic decisions. “These are not decisions taken lightly and we offer full support to our affected colleagues. We would also like to share our greatest gratitude and respect for their many contributions to the company», thanked Ubisoft. The group had already laid off around a hundred employees last November.

With all these layoffs around the world, it would have been strange for Ubisoft to resist these difficult changes. In fact, most other studios have already had to let go of several employees. Microsoft fired 1900 in January; Sony had to say goodbye to 900 employees; Electronic Arts (670 people) and Sega (240 people); on the Riot Games side, there are 530 individuals. Embracer Group is also causing significant damage since in June, the video game giant had to cut 1,400 positions.
