It’s a sad day for the Ubisoft Ivory Tower team who sees its first tone disappear from sale. The Crew, released in 2014, must close its servers on March 31, 2024 to limit the impact on network infrastructure. A licensing problem is added to this, forcing Ubisoft to react as quickly as possible. The open world racing game is therefore no longer available on online stores. And there are only 15 weeks left to ride on his land.
This doesn’t mean the end for Ubisoft studio Ivory Tower, however. Two other games are still running: The Crew 2 and the very recent The Crew Motorfest. These will continue to benefit from new content, updates and fixes. The racing series continues to chart its course, but let’s hope that this time around licensing issues don’t taint the experience in the years to come. The developers remain happy to have created this game which will have marked the start of a new adventure.

But this sudden stop raises a fundamental point in the life of service games. If players who purchased the game recently will be able to benefit from a refund – provided they respect the limit of 14 days of purchase and 2 hours of play – this is not the case for the most loyal fans. However, the latter paid a high price for the game, and are now deprived of all access. Even if the title is no longer very young, it will no longer be possible to take a look at it for nostalgia’s sake.
