UFL showcases some cutscenes and talks about the importance of AI


After years of monopoly, after PES, now eFootball, sabotaged itself, FIFA will see the arrival of two new competitors, including UFL, which looks promising, at least on paper given that we haven’t seen any actual gameplay footage yet. Despite a postponement to 2023, the developers, Strikerz Inc., share information from time to time, including recently about what cutscenes players will be able to see.

Whether during a substitution, before a free kick or a penalty, or after scoring a goal, players will have the opportunity to see different cutscenes. The aim is for these to be as realistic as possible, like when we watch a game, with diversity in the positioning of the camera, or the overall life of the pitch. In the video posted online, the developers explain that it is very difficult to set up these variants, in particular in the fact of programming the choice of this or that kinematics according to the context.


In addition to these cutscenes, visible in the video, the studio also evokes artificial intelligence. It is indeed complex to create an AI that controls other players while having a football logic. Especially since there are many ways to play football, and the AI ​​must adapt to yours. For it, UFL will leave the possibility to customize the AI ​​assistance system. If we do not have any details, it is possible that we can modify tactical instructions, such as pressing, calls or even the construction of the game (fast, slow, etc.), in the manner of FIFA.

Unfortunately, no release date has been shared regarding UFL, which is due to arrive in 2023, in free-to-play, on PC and consoles. Strikerz Inc. will tell us more in due course.
