UFOs: NASA starts large study – US military is already looking

The US space agency NASA commissions a UFO study. More precisely: The “independent study on ‘Unidentified Aerial Phenomena’ (UAP)” (roughly: Unidentified Aerial Phenomena) led by astrophysicist David Spergel aims to examine, from a scientific perspective, observations in the sky that are not considered aircraft or known natural phenomena can be identified.

The study will focus on identifying available data, how best to collect future data, and how NASA can use this data to advance the scientific understanding of UAPs. Such UAPs are relevant for both national security and aviation security reasons. However, it is important for NASA to emphasize that there is no evidence of extraterrestrial origins for UAPs.

‘Given the small number of observations, our first task is simply to collect as much reliable data as possible,’ says Spergel. “We’re going to figure out what data — from civilians, government, nonprofits and companies — is there, what else we should be collecting, and how best to analyze it.”

The expected duration of the study is nine months. The result of the study and all data contained therein are to be published.

The NASA scientific study is independent of a U.S. Department of Defense UFO study. So now two large institutions of the United States of America are trying to track down the UFO phenomenon at the same time.
