KYIV (Reuters) – The Ukrainian army said on Monday it had destroyed 28 drones out of 31 launched by Russia overnight as well as two missiles, mainly in the south of the country.

“The Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine destroyed 28 Shahed attack drones in the Odessa, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Donetsk, Kirovohrad and Khmelnitsky regions,” the Air Force said Ukrainians on the Telegram messaging application.

The drones were launched from Russian-occupied Crimea.

Debris from the downed drones damaged technical installations in the port of Odessa, as well as an administrative building and a warehouse that was out of order, the army added.

In the Kherson region, a fire broke out in a warehouse, without causing any injuries.

Reuters was unable to independently verify the Ukrainian Air Force report. Russia had no immediate comment.
