Tens of thousands of people are hiding in Kiev metro stations from Russian army attacks. Among them are many children. This video shows how some of the little ones turn the station into a playground – and how they can laugh carefree despite the terrible situation.
Ukraine conflict: Laughter despite the danger to life
For a moment the war raging outside seems to have been forgotten by the children. Loud children’s laughter, even enthusiastic squeaks can be heard. The reason: these children climb the stairs to the playground and simply slide down the ramp on their stomachs. Depressingly, this staircase is in a Kyiv subway station where people are hiding from Russian airstrikes. For a precious moment, it almost seems as if the war raging outside has been forgotten by the children.
