This recorded speech will be closely scrutinized to try to detect, beyond the words addressed to people who are alone or sick, the course that the president wishes to give to the coming months. If the war in Ukraine and inflation will probably be among the topics discussed, the president should also dwell on the famous pension reform, presented – in principle – on January 10. Undoubtedly the biggest reform of this beginning of the five-year term.
All in a tense social climate, like the strikes by SNCF controllers or general practitioners in recent days. At the same time, Emmanuel Macron must also deliver a message of unity and hope in an attempt to boost the morale of the French people who have suffered from the chain of crises in recent years.
