“This is not just a European issue. This is a global issue,” Biden said.
Stressing that Washington will stand with its “close national partners” in pushing for a free and open Indo-Pacific region, he said: “Russia’s aggression against Ukraine only reinforces the importance of these objectives of fundamental principles of international order, territorial integrity and sovereignty.”
Mr Biden is meeting the other leaders of the “Quad” – Japan, Australia and India – in Tokyo on the final day of his first trip to Asia since taking office.
