In Europe morning on Sunday, the deputy for Paris and general delegate of LREM, Stanislas Guerini, returned to the war in Ukraine when the Russian military invasion started 25 days ago. He felt that the normalization of relations with Vladimir Putin “is not for tomorrow”.

Guest of Jean-Pierre Elkabbach in Europe Matin, the deputy for Paris and general delegate of LREM, Stanislas Guerini, returned to the war in Ukraine and the Russian military invasion. He felt that Vladimir Putin was waiting for disunity in Europe and that the normalization of relations with the Russian president in the future seemed compromised.

“War crimes” in Ukraine

“I believe that Putin is heading towards a terrible and tragic stalemate. We see that children, families are torn apart. There are war crimes in Ukraine, that’s what is happening before our eyes. And I do not believe that overnight we will be able to find a kind of peaceful and commercial dialogue with Russia. The normalization of relations is not for tomorrow, what is happening will have consequences for decades”, he asserted.

For the MP, France’s responsibility is to find “the way to peace”. “It’s our role,” said Stanislas Guerini. “We do what the Ukrainians ask us, we send them weapons,” he continued.

As for Europe, he recalled that the States got into working order very quickly. “Take massive sanctions, send arms to Ukraine, welcome refugees… Look at all the difficulties we had in agreeing on these subjects, and there in a few days we did it. Just like banishing from our European antennas the Russian propaganda organs. And a few years ago, it was unimaginable. So does it make it possible today to make Putin back down, the answer is no, not yet.”
