One in four Ukrainian students plans to move abroad after graduating from school. According to a survey by the Ukrainian polling institute Vox Populi, 53 percent of students want to stay in Ukraine after school, 26 percent expressed the desire to go abroad, the remaining 20 percent had not yet decided. Shortly before the second anniversary of the Russian attack on Ukraine, around a third of those surveyed came from frontline regions.

In his evening video address, Zelensky said he spent the day with his military leadership and the government. Experienced “combat commanders of this war” would now take on new tasks. As deputy chiefs of staff under Syrsky, Colonel Vadym Sukharevsky will be responsible for unmanned systems and the development of soldiers’ use of drones, while Colonel Andriy Lebedenko will focus on technological innovation of army and combat systems. Zelensky also approved the appointment of three brigadier generals as deputies of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces: Volodymyr Horbatyuk for operations, Oleksiy Shevchenko for logistics and Mykhailo Drapatyi for training.

In the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian army repelled 79 attacks by Russian troops. As the General Staff reported in its situation report, most of them were in the Avdiivka and Mariinka areas in the east of the country. In total, there were 87 battles on the front, writes the General Staff in its update (as of 6 p.m.). There was also another Russian attack on the Ukrainian units at the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River, but it is said to have been unsuccessful.

The mayor of Kharkiv is declaring tomorrow, Sunday, a day of mourning after the Russian attack on the city in which seven people were killed and 57 injured. “Kharkiv will mark a day of mourning on February 11,” said Mayor Ihor Terekhov, according to a report in the Ukrainian newspaper Kyiv Independent.
