July 16 (Reuters) – Warning sirens sounded in Kyiv on Saturday as Russia stepped up its bombardment of Ukrainian cities, killing at least 34 people in the past three days.

Russian missiles struck the central Ukrainian city of Dnipro late Friday, killing three people and injuring 15, regional governor Valentyn Reznychenko said on Telegram.

Eight people were killed and 13 others injured in shelling in the Donetsk region in the east of the country, Governor Pavlo Kyrylenko said in a television interview.

A strike by Russian weapons against Vinnytsia, a city in central Ukraine far from the front lines, killed at least 23 people on Thursday, according to Kyiv.

The Russian Defense Minister explained that the strike on Vinnytsia targeted a building where Ukrainian armed forces officials were meeting with foreign arms suppliers.
