KYIV, Jan 17 (Reuters) – Oleksi Arestovitch, adviser to Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky, resigned on Tuesday after outrage in Ukraine over his statements suggesting the Russian missile that killed at least 41 people in Dnipro was shot down by the defense Ukrainian anti-aircraft.
Oleksi Arestovitch announced his resignation on Facebook after publicly apologizing and backtracking in a Telegram post.
The Ukrainian Air Force says the residential building hit in Dnipro was hit by a Russian Kh-22 missile, a type of weaponry that Ukraine is unable to shoot down.
“I sincerely apologize to the victims and their relatives, to the residents of Dnipro and to anyone who was deeply hurt by my erroneous preliminary version about the reason for the Russian missile strike on a residential building,” Oleksi Arestovitch wrote. .
