Uli Hoeneß hires RTL as an expert for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers for the German national team.

The former footballer, ex-manager and current honorary president of FC Bayern Munich, Uli Hoeneß (69), will have a new job from March next. Then he will share his expertise at RTL alongside presenter Florian König (53) as a football expert for the German national team's World Cup qualifiers. The broadcaster has now announced this.

Hoeneß approaches the matter with his usual zest for action: "I am really looking forward to this interesting task, which is also something completely new for me. (…) Anyone who knows me knows that I will take on every task always fill it in with 100 percent, and in this case I promise the fans and viewers at home in front of the television that too. " And Jörg Graf (54), managing director of RTL, is particularly pleased about the "concentrated football competence and passion" that the 69-year-old brought on board.

For the first time, Hoeneß will be used as a TV expert on March 25th in the game of Jogi Löw's (61) team against Iceland (kick-off: 20:45). Due to the Corona rules, Hoeneß and König will not be in the stadiums at any of the games, but will broadcast from an RTL studio in Cologne. Marco Hagemann (44) and Steffen Freund (51) are the commentators duo live on site. The other opponents from the German group J are Romania, North Macedonia, Liechtenstein and Armenia. The World Cup finals will then take place in Qatar from November 21 to December 18, 2022.
