Umicore: Announces a ‘solid’ semester, the stock climbs

In a press release published in the morning, the Belgian group indicates that its revenues over the first six months of the year amounted to 2.1 billion euros, a stable figure compared to the ‘record’ level of the first half of the year. ‘last year.

Its adjusted Ebit stood at 461 million euros, down 26% compared to the record levels of the first half of 2021.

In its press release, Umicore indicates that these first half results are the second highest in its history, despite severe market disruptions, cost inflation and metal price volatility.

While the revenues and profits of its recycling branch fell, under the effect of the fall in the price of precious metals, those of the branch dedicated to energy and surface treatment increased thanks to the strength of cobalt prices. and nickel and the unexpected surge in the price of lithium.

Addressing its outlook, Umicore said it expects its adjusted Ebit for the full year 2022 to be slightly above consensus.

These announcements were greeted by a gain of 4.8% of its title at the end of the morning on Euronext Brussels.
