Allociné: Commissioner Becker lived through difficult days following the expulsion of Maeva and Carine, to the point of losing his job. Did you like your character being put in danger?
Yvon Back : Yes ! We all like it when screenwriters invent stories that take us out of our comfort zones. From the moment we are pushed to play unusual stuff, it’s fun and it wakes us up. These are really interesting things to play. Especially since this injustice turns into a very small form of paranoia in Becker.
The episode on the expulsion of Maeva and Carine pushed Commissioner Becker out of the walls of the police station. I imagine it was a particularly interesting episode to shoot?
Absolutely ! We spent three or even four days shooting this episode. The days were very dense.
This intrigue also made it possible to show that Commissioner Becker was very supported by his teams…
Yes ! It was very fun to do. And then it digs the links with the other characters in the series. We are on new and different relationships. This is the case with Manu for example. It is a relationship that is changing. We are in a rather nice register because Léoni is someone very out of frame unlike Becker who is always very rigorous, very concerned with the texts and the law. And finally, he likes this relationship there by being even ready to accept the small deviations of Léoni.
With Janet, however, it’s a bit unfair. As he is white-hot by this story, he reacts a bit strongly when she obviously has nothing to do with it.
There is also a relationship that has developed with the character of Marc Mourre. It was really fun to do.
Becker will finally have little respite during the next episodes of Un si grand soleil since once the intrigue around the expulsion of Carine and Maeva is over, he will encounter some problems in his couple. What can you tell us about this?
He will be very jealous of Father Sylvio (Marcel Gonzalez) and of the time that Janet (Tonya Kinzinger) devotes to him. It was also very funny to play on this register.
Janet and Father Sylvio will get much closer in the next episodes. Could Becker suspect his wife of cheating on him?
He’s going to have little suspicions. He is jealous that Janet is spending so much time with someone other than him. Despite everything, he reassures himself by telling himself that he is a priest and that nothing can happen with him. Anyway, he will still follow her and surprise her in a raid (tour which consists of meeting homeless people who need help, editor’s note) with Father Sylvio.
Can we say that the couple Janet and Becker is in danger?
Not really. At least not at the moment! We still shot sequences in which Janet and Becker warmed up a bit. At first, he takes it as a joke, but he makes an effort not to be too boring with her. And then, we shot sequences where he cracks a little.
On the family side, can we expect to see Becker and Sabine (Gaela Le Devehat) interact more together in the future?
Yes. We shot a few scenes together. Besides, a lot is going to happen for Sabine in the weeks to come.
What awaits Becker in the coming months?
I should be on a big ark by the end of the year but I haven’t read the texts yet. There are plenty of things to come.
Do you have any particular desires for your character?
I have really been spoiled this year. The further the writers take me, the happier I am. It really amuses me. It’s a bit cathartic.
