Un Si Grand Soleil: “Paul will prove to be sickly jealous” reveals Aurore Delplace

Met on the occasion of the La Rochelle Fiction Festival, Aurore Delplace, the interpreter of Johanna in Un Si Grand Soleil, confided in the microphone of Allociné on her character and her budding love affair with Paul.

Allocinated: such a big sun just celebrated its fourth birthday. At the start of the adventure, what attracted you to the role of Johanna?

Aurore Delplace: Johanna is a very rich character. At the beginning, we felt that she was a little complex, a little hard and cold. I think we tended to hate her. Little by little, I think I managed to bring him some sweetness so that people have a little empathy for this character who is ultimately rather nice. I have the feeling of having succeeded in bringing kindness and gentleness to this character, which in turn has given me more strength in life.

Through this character, you defend a vision of the modern woman. Is it something you like?

Completely ! Johanna doesn’t give a damn about other people’s eyes. She does what she wants and says what she thinks. It’s awesome !

Johanna was unlucky in love. After Christopher (Hubert Benhamdine), Ludo (Folco Marchi) and Julian (Jeremy Banster), will she finally find love?

She will meet Paul (Renaud Leymans) an architect who appears to be someone brilliant but he will turn out to be jealous, sickly and violent. She will have support from someone she did not expect.

When she was in a relationship with Julien, Johanna wanted a child. Is this something that will come back?

Currently not.

Guilhem (White Manual) is getting married. How will Johanna react?

She is very happy for her uncle. It will bring them closer.

Un si grand soleil is known for tackling strong social issues through its characters. Is there a subject you would like to defend through Johanna?

I would love to talk about abortion. Talking about pregnancies and especially complicated pregnancies as I have experienced. It’s not taboo but we don’t talk about it enough. When you see it, you want to give your point of view. There is not a story but stories.

In addition to being an actress, you are also a singer. Are we going to hear Johanna sing in Un si grand soleil?

I would love to, but I don’t think that’s on Johanna’s mind (laughs). But it would be great if one day there was an entirely musical episode like the Americans do!

Do you have other projects apart from the series?

I shot in the TV movie La vengeance sans visage by Claude-Michel Rome in which I play a handicapped person. It’s an action movie and I had a blast. My character has nothing to do with Johanna’s. I’m brunette and don’t wear makeup.

I’m also trying to get back to music but it’s hard. I didn’t know that being a mom took so much time and energy (laughs).
