Two years after the release of the first film, Nathan Drake is ready to return to adventure on the big screen! During a presentation this Monday at the CineEurope convention in Barcelona, Sony revealed its plans for its future productions. In the lot, the studio announced that a Uncharted 2 was officially in the pipeline.

It was Steven O’Dell, president of international distribution at Sony, who shared the good news. During his presentation, he discussed the studio’s upcoming films, including the next 28 years later by Danny Boyle (with Cillian Murphy, Jodie Comer and Aaron Taylor-Johnson), Klara and the Sun by Taika Waititi (with Jenna Ortega), SNL 1975 by Jason Reitman, the adaptation of The Legend of Zelda or the four biopics on the Beatles by Sam Mendes planned for 2027 and announced as “distinct, but interconnected films”.

In this batch of announcements, O’Dell has also placed a new film Uncharted was in development, two years after the release of the first opus. Information which is far from being a surprise, since the adaptation was a relative success, with 407 million dollars collected worldwide, for a budget of 120 million.
Above all, the film remains an adaptation of an extremely popular video game, and should count on the return of Tom Holland in the main role. The interpreter of Spider-Man in the MCU is currently taking a break from cinema, and is performing in the theater in an adaptation of Romeo and Juliet in London.

This new film Uncharted is still very mysterious, doesn’t yet have a release date and it’s unclear if director Ruben Fleischer will return to the helm. But this new adaptation can follow the paths launched by the two post-credits scenes of the first opus.
Remember, one of them revealed that Sam, Nathan’s long-lost brother, was alive and in prison, while the second showed our hero talking with Gage’s character (Pilou Asbaek) about mysterious Nazi cards , before being saved by Sully (Mark Walhberg). An entire program.

Regardless, Sony is more than right to dig into the vein of video game adaptations, which have experienced real growth and a significant increase in quality in recent years.
