Uncharted order

It’s not just its skillfully staged action, interesting game world, and fun gameplay that make the Uncharted series so engaging, but also its complex characters and the relationships that bind them together. A development that can only be authentically understood by experiencing the story from the beginning. However, one should not resort to the titles sorted by publication date, but pay attention to the chronology of the plot.
Below is the order as it should be after the actual story:

  1. Uncharted: Golden Abyss – 2012
  2. Uncharted: Drake’s Destiny – 2007
  3. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves – 2009
  4. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception – 2011
  5. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End – 2016
  6. Uncharted: A Lost Legacy – 2017

Uncharted: A franchise with many offshoots

As you can see in the list, the numbering does not necessarily indicate in which order the plot makes the most chronological sense. Thus, 2011’s Uncharted: The Golden Abyss takes place at the earliest point in time in the universe. In it, Drake goes in search of a legendary city of gold. An adventure that, unfortunately, only players who have a PlayStation Vita can embark on, as this is a title exclusive to the portable game console. Also, unlike all other Uncharted titles, this one wasn’t developed by Naughty Dog, but by Sony Bend Studio.

Sony released the other parts on the PlayStation 3, 4 and 5. First released in 2007, Uncharted: Drake’s Destiny takes you on a quest to find the legendary treasure El Dorado. In the next game, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, released in 2009, you follow in the footsteps of the famous explorer Marco Polo. Continuing on from that storyline, 2011’s Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception unveils the mysteries of the lost city of Iram. Parts one through three were developed by Naughty Dog exclusively for the PlayStation 3.
Finally, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is the final main installment in the series and was released exclusively for the PlayStation 4 in 2016. In it, the legendary treasure hunter embarks on one last adventure before retiring once and for all.

But Nathan Drake’s retirement doesn’t mean the end of the line. The spin-off Uncharted: The Lost Legacy followed for the PlayStation 4 in 2017. With the character Chloe Frazer, known from earlier parts, you travel to India to find a valuable artifact to which the heroine has a personal connection. For the last two parts of the series, Sony is breaking with the PlayStation exclusivity, much to the delight of PC gamers: the remaster called Legacy of Thieves Collection of Uncharted 4 and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy will not only be reissued for the PS5, but also for the first time made available for PC gamers.

Even though the Uncharted universe already offers so many titles, fans still don’t have enough. That’s why there are always speculations about a fifth part, with which players could once again plunge into adventure as treasure hunters.
