On the occasion of the release of “Uncharted”, a small focus on Sophia Ali, who plays the treasure hunter Chloe Frazer alongside Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg.
After multiple postponements, Uncharted, adapted from the famous video game franchise, has finally been released in dark rooms. Directed by Ruben Fleischer, to whom we owe Venom, the blockbuster centers on Nathan Drake and his mentor Victor Sullivan, who decide to go in search of Magellan’s treasure. Alongside them, a determined thief of ancient objects, played by Sophia Ali, joins the adventure.
Born in San Diego in 1995 to an American mother and a Pakistani father, Sophia Ali spent the first five years of her life in Dubai. Very early on, she practiced dance and became interested in stage professions. When her parents returned to the United States and moved to Dallas, she began to land roles in television, film and advertising. At 14, she even hosts a show on Disney Channel!
Multiplying the castings, Sophia Ali made her first steps on television in two episodes of K Street created by George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh. She continues by appearing, more or less furtively, in other series such as Shake It Up, CSI: Miami, Melissa & Joey, Faking It or Famous in Love. In the cinema we can see her in Missionary Man, Walking with the Dead, Everybody Wants Some !! and Mono.

A physical role, as the actress recalls: “Piloting a boat, sliding on the hood of a car in two different ways and under different conditions, climbing a fountain… To be honest, I was intimidated, because I obviously hadn’t noticed myself at how aggressive Chloe was, until I started playing video games. Sometimes I just closed my eyes hoping to land on my feet… And I did.”
In addition, Sophia Ali takes her first steps in directing with the short film Mouthpiece (2021), in which a seemingly harmless birthday dinner turns out to be more eventful than expected…
