Filler words can lighten the tone, both verbally and in writing. But if they are used too often, it disrupts the flow of speech/reading. They only make sense if they support the message – but in most cases they are used unconsciously without being relevant to the content, just to bridge a pause, for example. So – even a filler word – in the future, pay attention to which words you only use as gap fillers and instead formulate your statement clearly and succinctly.
