The editor Dark Curry is behind Undead Citadel, a video game exclusively designed for virtual reality (VR), which gives pride of place to realistic medieval combat and a world in the grip of an invasion of the living dead. With a release planned for fall 2024, this title promises an immersive experience where every blow, every movement is dictated by an entirely physics-based combat system.
A Unique Combat Experience
The heart of Undead Citadel lies in its physics-based combat engine, giving players an ultra-realistic feeling when slicing, stabbing or punching their enemies. Whether it’s cutting off limbs or blocking sword strikes with a shield, each interaction is announced as fluid and faithful to the laws of physics. Over 60 melee weapons are available, including swords, axes, maces, as well as two-handed options. The game also features ranged combat using bows, arrows and explosives, allowing players to adapt their playstyle.
A Stunning Visual Universe
Undead Citadel also stands out with graphics that look really neat. The environments, both interior and exterior, are designed to reflect a dark and apocalyptic world, where tormented skies and desolate landscapes enhance player immersion. The game features 10 levels to explore, each populated with undead creatures and puzzles to solve, incorporating a real-time lighting system and a variety of changing weather conditions.
Diverse Game Modes
The game offers several game modes to meet the expectations of VR enthusiasts:
- Story Mode: Players embody Sir Anvil Capheusa mercenary who discovers a huge citadel in the heart of a storm. Armed with weapons found along the way, he will have to face hordes of undead creatures to hope to survive;
- Horde Mode: Players must stand against endless waves of enemies in three different arenas;
- Armory: This mode allows players to test the weapons they have unlocked in other modes against generated enemies.
An Immersive and Accessible VR Game
With free-roaming VR controls, players can choose to play standing or seated, and configure movement options to their preference. The title is aimed at an international audience, being translated into several languages, including French, English, and Japanese.
Undead Citadel promises to be a challenger for the position of essential for fans of VR and realistic medieval combat, combining immersion, action and meticulous attention to physical details in a universe ravaged by supernatural forces.
