Under judicial control, the “rapist of Tinder” is accused by new complainants

When The world had met him in April 2022, in a café near his home on 10e Parisian district, the question had been put to him: did he continue to frequent dating sites? Salim B. was offended, arguing his right to seduction: “I assume that I don’t have to justify myself to meet a person. “. This 38-year-old man already had the nickname “tinder rapist”. He was then released under judicial supervision, after more than two years in pre-trial detention, and suspected of sixteen rapes, committed between 2014 and 2019.

“I am convinced that I have done no wrong”, he assured, conceding only to suffer from a form of sexual compulsion which pushed him to seduce at all costs. While the investigation of his case is closed, pending a hearing before the criminal court, Salim B. has in fact never stopped frequenting dating sites. And at least three women say they have been victims of rape or sexual assault by him in recent months.

Attacks committed with the same systematic pattern, qualified of “form of industrialization” in the indictment, which summarizes the investigation into the complaints filed by the sixteen alleged victims of Salim B. A twist that sums up this whole file: that of an intelligent and methodical man, who designed a protocol complex, intended to satisfy his need “purely narcissistic, egocentric”, according to one of the psychiatric expert reports, for whomn “addiction consists of (…) to seduce the other in order to be able to reject him and mistreat him afterwards”by doing “the receptacle of the disgust he has for his own addiction”.

A predatory ritual

The prescription, beyond each case, attempts to describe a predation ritual. It begins upstream with seduction, practiced on a large scale: Salim B. a, still according to psychiatric expertise, “great handling skills”. He has profiles on many dating apps, and many identities: his names are Abel, Sam, Amir, Sol, Sacha, Darcy.

Photographer, he highlights himself with flattering shots where his face never appears, before attracting the attention of young women by means of almost identical replicas from one victim to another. The investigation will show that he maintains an Excel table with the standard phrases he uses, which range “from the first contact to the proposal”, and allow him to maintain up to twenty simultaneous conversations. In their depositions, the plaintiffs evoke the same words, the same arguments: Salim B. speaks of his job as a photographer, assures that his prey of the moment inspires him, that she is ” unique “and offers a physical meeting for a photography session.
