And here we go again! Less than a year after entry into force
of his much criticized unemployment insurance reform, Emmanuel Macron is already considering renegotiating it in “pursuer” the work begun during the previous five-year term. In the mind of the newly re-elected president, this project, combined with that of the RSA conditioned on hours of compulsory activity and the overhaul of Pôle emploi in France Travail, must allow the country to access the Holy Grail of full employment on the horizon. 2027.
To achieve this, the Head of State wants to draw inspiration from what is being done across the Atlantic by adjusting the unemployment insurance system according to the situation on the job market. “Each time the situation improves, we must have rules that encourage even more people to return to work; each time the economic situation deteriorates, we must better protect those who fall into a situation of unemployment”, he assured during his press conference in mid-March.
