It wasn’t just for Mario and his friends during the Nintendo Direct this Thursday and several original projects were revealed. We find among them the new project from a Japanese entity whose mere mention has everything to delight fans of Japanese games: Vanillaware. If you were wondering what the creators of Dragon’s Crown And Odin Sphereamong others, had been doing since 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim was released in 2019 (apart from the Switch port released last year), here is the answer, Unicorn Overlord, which will once again be published by Atlus.

After the RTS mixed with phases of adventure, Vanillaware this time will offer us A Tactical RPG in a medieval fantasy universe. Unicorn Overlord will make us build an army throughout the adventure, with over 60 unique characters available to recruit, including humans, elves, angels and gigantic beasts, all across five nations. A combat system described as innovative will be offered, which seems to mix phases across the explorable world map with limited time and combat with a sort of turn-based approach when the troops meet. The plot will put us in the shoes of a protagonist of royal blood who will have to liberate the kingdom and regain his throne through the sweat of his brow. What is certain is that the soundtrack should delight our ears!

Unicorn Overlord will be released for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Switch on March 8, 2024 worldwide and we can’t wait to learn more about it.
