Second game, first embarrassment: Despite the record goal by super talent Youssoufa Moukoko, Borussia Dortmund already suffered a defeat in their second appearance with coach Edin Terzic. BVB lost 1: 2 (0: 0) at 1. FC Union in Berlin on the cold Friday evening. At the age of 16 years and 28 days, Moukoko met the meanwhile equalizer (60th) as the youngest goalscorer in the Bundesliga. Taiwo Awoniyi (57th) was successful for the hosts, Marvin Friedrich (78th) after the hit of the super talent.

In a good mood, Terzic said shortly before kick-off that his team should play "not only successfully, but also a little nicer". The successor to Lucien Favre ordered Moukoko for the second time in the starting line-up, to which national player Emre Can returned. During the game, Terzic kept shouting instructions loudly on the pitch – but his team had a hard time.

It is true that BVB, which competes in the Cup at Eintracht Braunschweig on Tuesday, developed more possession early on and put the hosts under pressure with high pressure. Jadon Sancho, who often swapped positions on the wings with Giovanni Reyna, missed the first chance to take the lead (10th).

Unnecessary mistakes by BVB

Union coach Urs Fischer had set his team defensively clever, and the Berliners were always waiting for counterattacks, which surprised BVB several times. After a mistake by Thomas Meunier, Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Bürki held strong against Taiwo Awoniyi (17th), who had finished after 92 seconds, but was probably slightly offside.

The hosts, who had to do without top scorer Max Kruse and six other professionals, got stronger during this phase. The Berliners, who received SC Paderborn in the cup on Tuesday, delivered the rooms well organized and defended with high intensity. BVB made unnecessary mistakes in the structure and sometimes played too awkwardly. The almost 70 percent possession in the first half was too seldom used by Dortmund in dangerous scenes in front of the Berliner Tor. In one of the few finishes Moukoko had bad luck, his shot only hit the post (45th).

Terzic had warned against the courageous and stable Berliners, who held against it with great effort even after the break. Cedric Teuchert checked Bürki (54th) before Awoniyi took the lead after a corner.

The Dortmund then acted increasingly compelling – and cheered with Moukoko, who scored the equalizer with a strong left-footed shot. In the past few weeks, the 16-year-old made his debut as the youngest player in the history of the Bundesliga and the Champions League. The joy did not last long, however, BVB still lacked the ultimate consequence without striker Erling Haaland. Friedrich punished the negligence with the renewed Berlin leadership with a head after a corner.
