As the legislative elections approach, a union of Republicans with the Republic in March is considered by some deputies. Conversely, for Aurélien Pradié, secretary general of the Republicans, guest of the Grand Rendez-vous this Sunday, pushing the members of his political family towards Emmanuel Macron is a “mistake”.

INTERVIEW

Which right embodies the Republicans party today? Is a union between the Republic in March and the Republicans possible? “I do not believe for a single second that those who in a political family like the Republicans and who would go to Emmanuel Macron tomorrow would do so out of conviction”, assured Aurélien Pradié, secretary general of the Republicans (LR), guest of the Big meeting this Sunday.

Irreconcilable parties?

Remarks contrary to those of Guillaume Larrivé, deputy Les Républicains (LR) of Yonne, invited to the microphone of Jean-Pierre Elkabbach on Sunday morning. “Emmanuel Macron has called for a rally. He is the re-elected President of the Republic. I would not understand this call for a rally, if the movement, heir to the Gaullists, the Sarkozyists, does not hear it”, launched Guillaume Larrivé .

“I find that we have a form of inversion of values and that we have become accustomed to a loss of honor in politics. From now on, to be courageous would be to betray one’s political family”, answers Aurélien Pradié. However, the former President of the Republic and former President of the Republicans, Nicolas Sarkozy is also working behind the scenes to influence the future majority and ensure that the LR party does not remain in opposition for another five years.

“I have a difference of point of view with Nicolas Sarkozy. I think that the choice he makes to push us towards Emmanuel Macron is a mistake”, continues the secretary general of the Republicans.

“I belong to a generation that has experienced many political failures sometimes from our elders, including Nicolas Sarkozy’s last political failure,” he comments. “There are surely pages to turn, this is one of them and it will be up to my generation to do so,” he concluded.
