Union of rights, France, assimilation … What to remember from Eric Zemmour’s meeting in Paris

Eric Zemmour wanted to mark the spirits, this Sunday March 27 at the Trocadéro, in Paris, by pronouncing a speech of defense of France, during his meeting.

The Reconquest candidate advanced alone on the platform, facing a massive crowd waving countless tricolor flags. He told his audience, which he said numbered 100,000, that this was the “biggest show of force of the campaign”.

Heated by the passages of Philippe de Villiers and Marion Maréchal, the spectators listened to him denounce the division of the patriots into several camps. “I will need everyone”, from the Republicans to the National Rally, he hammered, continuing to press his desire to unite the rights. “We are the only heirs of a right that loves France”, denouncing Valérie Pécresse the “centrist, already ready to vote Emmanuel Macron in the second round”, Marine Le Pen “the socialist in economy who no longer wants to take any risk of displease the media” and Emmanuel Macron “who still does not know which side he is on”.

“The only candidate who has the concern of the end of the month and the concern of the end of France”

Acknowledging that he may have disappointed some of his supporters, by saying certain things, he claimed not to be a “professional politician” looking for the slightest percentage of votes, and claimed to always tell “the truth” and what he thinks.

“I came to the Trocadero to talk to you about France,” he announced. “In this election, I am the only candidate who has the concern for the end of the month and the concern for the end of France”. He denounced the cowardice of the political class in the face of insecurity, listing several key events in recent years, between terrorist attacks and violence “scum”.

“It’s the state that should be ashamed,” he said. “I will fight for the reconquest of our identity, our prosperity, our power, our serenity”. Eric Zemmour addressed the youth, asking them to be worthy of “his elders”, taking up a letter from Lucien Legros, a high school student who entered the resistance at 16 and was shot by the Nazis in 1943. Words that triggered a Marseillaise among the crowd, taken up on the stage by the candidate.

Assimilation forbidden

He then addressed his message to parents and grandparents, who “fear” for their children. Then to workers and craftsmen, to whom he promised less taxes while “the state is so weak with those who do not work”.

Eric Zemmour then defended the assimilation of French culture and customs by foreigners who came to France, saluting those who do so. On the other hand, he affirmed that it was not up to France to adapt to those who did not want to make this effort.

He then listed at length what makes France culturally, quoting Victor Hugo, Charles Aznavour or Jacques Brel, speaking of the cinema of Gérard Depardieu, Catherine Deneuve or Jean Dujardin.

“We are going to thwart all the predictions,” concluded the candidate, giving an appointment for the evening of April 10, the moment of the results of the first round of the presidential election.

As a reminder, the latest OpinionWay barometer for CNEWS, published Thursday, credited him with 10% of voting intentions in the first round, behind Emmanuel Macron (LREM; 28%), Marine Le Pen (RN; 19%), Jean- Luc Mélenchon (LFI; 14%) and Valérie Pécresse (LR; 11%).
