The federal and state governments work together in Burgenland. This year there is all-day care for children from the age of five.
This combination of a federal summer school and a state learning and holiday camp only exists in Burgenland. “By taking care of the kids in the afternoon, we guarantee the parents all-day care, which is particularly important for many, especially at the end of the holidays,” explains state councilor Daniela Winkler, who was at the start of the 14-day “Fit4Future” camps in her home community of Frauenkirchen was there. Accordingly, many children, namely 2700, are also registered at the 20 locations in Burgenland. Last year there were 1,100 – purely at the summer camp. The children between the ages of 5 and 14 are now being prepared for two weeks for the start of school on September 5th. The special thing about it: In Burgenland, there will be careers advice for the 7th and 8th school years. “The children can get a taste of vocational school and HTL and see whether they would be interested in a direction here,” says Winkler. Another fixed point: working with clubs. Because Corona has also caused some damage here. “Many clubs lack young talent. We give them the opportunity to introduce themselves and perhaps arouse the children’s interest in their organisation,” explains the provincial councillor.
