United Kingdom: GDP growth of 0.2% in the 2nd quarter

(CercleFinance.com) – The British economy finally recorded a growth of 0.2% in the second quarter compared to the first, shows a second estimate published this Friday by the ONS.

The National Institute of Statistics is thus revising its previous estimate upwards by 0.3 points, after initially announcing a contraction of 0.1% in activity over the period from April to June.

The year-on-year increase in gross domestic product (GDP) was 4.4%, but the UK economy remains 0.2% lower in real terms than its pre-health crisis levels, that is to say compared to the fourth quarter of 2019, specifies the ONS in its information note.
