United States: Further drop in the ISM manufacturing index


WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Growth in U.S. manufacturing activity slowed more than expected in June and the new orders index fell for the first time in two years, the monthly survey shows. Institute for Supply Management (ISM) released Friday.

The ISM manufacturing index fell to 53.0, the lowest since June 2020, against 56.1 the previous month. Economists polled by Reuters on average expected a figure of 54.9.

The new orders sub-index fell to 49.2 from 55.1 and the employment index fell to 47.3 from 49.6 in May.

The price paid component came out at 78.5 after 82.2.
