United States, Japan and South Korea condemn the agreement between Russia and North Korea

  • In a joint declaration published Friday, the United States, Japan and South Korea condemn the supply of weapons by North Korea to Russia for the war in Ukraine, the US State Department reported. “Such arms deliveries, several of which we now confirm have been completed, will significantly increase the human toll of Russia’s war of aggression”indicates the press release.
  • Vladimir Putin supervised an exercise simulating a retaliatory nuclear strike during military maneuvers. According to Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, these maneuvers aim to simulate “the launch of a massive nuclear strike by strategic offensive forces in response to an enemy nuclear strike”.
  • The Ukrainian energy minister deplores an attack near the Khmelnytsky nuclear power plant. During the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, “enemy bombing” damaged buildings near the Khmelnytsky nuclear power plant in the west of the country, reports the Ukrainian Energy Ministry. In his daily addressthe Ukrainian president claims that the attack which damaged buildings near the Khmelnytsky nuclear power plant was aimed at the plant itself.
  • The Institute for the Study of War reports counter-offensive operations by Ukrainian forces in the east and south of the country. The American think tank notes that Ukrainian troops advanced on Tuesday south of Bakhmut and in the west of the Zaporizhia oblast.
  • Robert Fico, hostile to Ukraine and favorable to Russia, was appointed head of the Slovak government. He has said he is ready to end the country’s military aid to Ukraine, opposes European Union sanctions against Russia and wants to prevent kyiv from joining NATO. His first diplomatic outing takes place on Thursday for the opening of the European Council.
