United States: retail sales rebound

(Boursier.com) — Retail sales in the United States for the month of June 2022 were up 1% compared to the previous month, against a consensus of +0.6%, according to the Commerce Department. The drop in May (-0.3%) has been revised to +0.1%.

Excluding automobiles, fuels, building materials and food services, retail sales increased by 0.8% in June, after a revised drop of 0.3% in May against stagnation in the first estimate.

This category is the closest to that used for the calculation of the consumption component in the gross domestic product (GDP) statistics.
