WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Labor Secretary Marty Walsh will resign from his post, a source familiar with the matter said on Tuesday, while local media said he is expected to take the helm of the American Professional League ice hockey (NHL).

This departure would be the first by a member of Joe Biden’s government since he arrived at the White House in January 2021, and would come as the Democratic president changed his general secretary and reshuffled his team of economic advisers.

No comment was obtained from the White House on the departure of Marty Walsh, former mayor of Boston and ex-president of a workers’ union.
