United States: Surprise deterioration in consumer confidence, according to the Conference Board

PARIS (Reuters) – Consumer confidence in the United States deteriorated against all expectations in April, shows the Conference Board’s monthly survey published on Tuesday.

The confidence index calculated by the employers’ organization stood at 97.0 this month compared to 103.1 in March (revised from 104.7).

The consensus of economists polled by Reuters forecast a figure of 104.0.
