UNIVERSAL ACQUIRES SINGER STING’S CATALOG
(Reuters) – Universal Music Group (UMG) announced on Thursday that it had reached an agreement to buy the entire catalog of British singer Sting, both solo and with the group The Police, of which he was the leader charismatic from 1978 to 1983.
The author of “Roxanne”, “Every Breath You Take”, “Message in a Bottle” or even “Englishman in New York” has sold more than 100 million albums since the start of his career, recalls UMG in a press release .
Universal does not specify the amount of the transaction. According to the Wall Street Journal, it amounts to around 300 million dollars (260 million euros).
