Unknown manipulated sockets in the train – dangerous electric shock possible

Someone manipulated several sockets in a regional train in such a way that a woman received an electric shock while traveling by train from Stuttgart to Karlsruhe. The federal police are investigating, among other things, because of dangerous bodily harm and advised checking sockets on trains for manipulation before using them. You should not touch them, but inform the officials or the train staff.

According to the information, the perpetrator or perpetrators had pulled thin metal wires out of the socket or put them in. “You can see that immediately,” said a spokesman for the Federal Police Inspectorate in Stuttgart on Sunday. So far, this is the only known incident of this kind. Railway companies have been informed and asked to be vigilant. From a case of extortion or similar one does not assume at the moment.

A train belonging to a private railway company was affected. According to a spokesman, Deutsche Bahn is not yet aware of such cases.

35-year-old had to be hospitalized after being electrocuted

It was still unclear at the weekend who had tampered with the sockets. Several witnesses have come forward, the spokesman said on Sunday. However, there were no other injuries among them. Now it has to be clarified whether all the information about the incident fits and whether it is about the same train. The colleagues also evaluated video recordings.

The 35-year-old woman wanted to use one of the manipulated sockets on Friday, but suffered an electric shock and was injured when she came into contact with a metal particle. After arriving in Karlsruhe, she was taken to the hospital.
