Unknown new airline: New Airbus A380 operator appears out of nowhere

According to Global Airlines, it has bought an Airbus A380 and more are to follow. More should follow. The new airline is still completely unknown – just like its plans.

100 pounds – that’s how high the paid-up capital of Global Airlines is. On July 13, 2021, the company, based in the posh London district of Mayfair, was registered in the UK commercial register. Its purpose according to the entry: “Representative for the sale of machinery, industrial equipment, ships and aircraft”.

In the meantime, the plans go much further. In a press release on Monday (May 29), the company said it wanted to take passengers of all classes “back to the golden age of aviation”. That is why the first Airbus A380 was procured.

Global Airlines pays eight-figure purchase price for Airbus A380

The super jumbo was bought by the German financial company Doric. It owns 18 Airbus A380s. Global Airlines does not want to name a price. In the message, however, she speaks of an eight-digit sum.

For comparison: Lufthansa sold six of the XL aircraft back to Airbus in 2019 for 52.6 million euros each. But she was certainly able to benefit from a good price, since she ordered additional A350s at the same time.

“Our goal is to be the best way to fly”

Global Airlines does not want to be satisfied with an Airbus A380. The company said it plans to add three more aircraft to the fleet in the coming months. “Our goal is to be the best way to fly and the A380, with its unrivaled levels of space, comfort and service, will play an absolutely central role in realizing that vision,” said company founder James Asquith.

He studied at the London School of Economics and describes himself as a “traveller, author, founder and head of Holiday Swap”. He is also the official Guinness record holder for the youngest person to visit all independent countries in the world – at 24. Holiday Swap is a home swap platform.

Ex-Singapore and Hi-Fly machine?

Global Airlines has not yet revealed anything about its plans. More will be revealed in the summer, she explains. The start is planned for spring 2024. At one point she speaks of “transatlantic flights”.

The A380 is believed to be the serial number 6 that once served Singapore Airlines and then Hi Fly. He is almost 17 years old. In the press release, founder Asquith shows himself on the stairs of a stored Airbus A380, on which a makeshift design has been applied. He emphasizes that the final paint job will be presented later.
