Meta continues to refine its Threads app, with a much-requested new feature coming soon.
Remember, at the beginning of the summer, Meta took advantage of Twitter’s bad luck to launch Threads, its microblogging network, affiliated with Instagram. Over the weeks, the parent company of Facebook takes care to refine its application, depending (most of the time) on the wishes of its users. Very recently, we learned that the application would soon allow a Threads account holder to delete their account, without this also deleting their Instagram profile. It’s about time!
Threads, towards a free “edit” function
Last July, Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, revealed some of the new features included in the update then being deployed. At the same time, the latter mentioned the future of Threads, and in particular the future arrival of a function allowing you to correct a message.
Today, according to a recent publication by Alessandro Paluzzi on X.com (formerly Twitter), Meta is currently testing this valuable functionality. Remember that with the competition (namely X.com), the editing function is only available for subscribers to the Premium offer (ex-Twitter Blue), with the possibility of correcting a message within 60 minutes of its initial publication.
An “edit” function also for Threads (but you’ll have to be keen)
On the Meta side, we are currently refining this same functionality for Threads, which will (a priori) be free for all users. The latter will allow you to modify a message that has just been posted, within a maximum of 5 minutes.
In addition, it seems that Threads is also preparing other new features, including the possibility of choosing who can respond to a message, or even hiding the likes counter (like on Instagram). Meta has not yet confirmed the arrival of such features, but they could arrive very quickly within the application.
And if Threads still sounds like a mystery to you, that’s normal, since the application (launched in July) was only available for a few days in Europe. Quickly, and while waiting to comply with European legislation, Meta made the decision to block Threads in Europe.
A complicated situation which could last until 2024, as the same Adam Mosseri mentioned this summer.
