Until Dawn will have its remaster on PC and PS5 – Gamosaurus

Released in 2015 on PlayStation 4, Until Dawn will arrive on PlayStation 5 and PC sometime in 2024. A new version which will bring some welcome changes compared to the original game.

Completely reworked on Unreal Engine 5 by the Ballistic Moon studio, Until Dawn abandons fixed camera angles and now opts for a new third-person view. The studio also adds contextual movement animations. Enough to improve the immersion of players in the events of this fateful night.

The new version is also intended to be more nuanced and emotional than the original and should offer a broader cinematic tonal color palette than the cool blue hues of the 2015 version.

If of course the original scenario is preserved, Ballistic Moon insists on having more fully developed certain hitherto unexplored moving passages of the story. Another addition, players should be able to see new locations in addition to recognizing old ones in an improved version.

And to perfect the atmosphere of this remaster, the studio abandons the soundtrack by original composer Jason Graves and decides to go with music by Mark Korven. A change which is also accompanied by an overhaul of the sound concerning the soundscape of the title.

Ballistic Moon therefore seems to have undertaken a lot of in-depth work on this new PC and PS5 version of Until Dawn. So much so that it would almost be closer to a complete remake than a simple remaster. It remains to be seen whether the game will manage to keep the atmosphere of the good old slasher movies of the 1990s.
