Australia is known for being particularly strict when it comes to video gameshe does not hesitate to ban titles deemed too violent, to the great dismay of players. Games like Fallout 3, Left 4 Dead 2, The Witcher 2, Silent Hill: Homecoming, Saints Row IV or even the Grand Theft Auto therefore had to be censored to be released in this territory, while others are simply not available in Australia.
This is the case of Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Numberlaunched in 2015 by Dennaton Games and banned in Australia. Jonatan Söderström, one of the creators of the game, then invited players to pirate his title to still enjoy it despite the ban, but now Hotline Miami Collection launched last year on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, including in Australia on the console Sony. Players could therefore finally discover Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number legally on PlayStation 5, it was even offered in the subscription PS+. Unfortunately, players who purchased the game can no longer enjoy it.
Sony has removed Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number from PlayStation Store Australian and reimbursed the buyers, stating:
We have become aware that the product Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number did not receive the appropriate rating from the Australian Classification Board and have therefore taken steps to refund customers who purchased the game.
We have issued a refund of the full purchase price of the product to your original payment method. This may take 30-60 days to appear on your bank statement. If your original payment source is not available, we will refund the purchase amount to your PlayStation Network Wallet.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused.
