Unusual – manual transmission costs extra for the new BMW M2!

Fans of classic car driving cheer: The new BMW M2 not only comes with an automatic transmission, but also with the option of a manual transmission. But it’s just that: an option – and a paid one at that!

In general, the manual transmission in cars is the cheaper basic variant, after all, an automatic is by far the more complex and expensive technology. Especially since it has worked particularly well in the M-BMWs and comes with shift paddles on the steering wheel as standard. But unlike in the past, the automatic transmission is much more of a mass product than the manual one, and many brands are gradually saying goodbye to it altogether. But BMW wants to continue to serve the fans of this classic technology – only now they have to pay extra for it. In the German online configurator (the Austrian one is not yet available), a surcharge of 500 euros is required. In Austria it could be a bit more expensive because of the NoVA. With a base price of 88,000 euros, this will probably not affect the take rate. The new BMW M2 will go on sale in April 2023. It essentially takes over the technology from the BMW M3 or M4, but not quite the engine power: for the time being it comes with 460 hp. All-wheel drive is also not provided. Here’s all the info!
