Delobel Opens Up to Emi About Her Father
At the Institute, tensions rise as Lionel and Jasmine attempt to convince Emi that Chef Delobel is not the culprit behind her father’s tragic suicide. Emi firmly believes that Delobel resented her father’s accomplishments and even possesses evidence of menacing messages sent to him. However, Lionel and Jasmine stand by Delobel, convinced of his innocence.
They approach Delobel in the Workshop to discuss Emi’s accusations. He acknowledges her suspicions but insists he has no intention of taking action. When pressed by Lionel and Jasmine, Delobel maintains his distance from Saneka’s death but refrains from sharing more to protect Emi from further pain.
Later, Delobel encounters Emi in the park, urging her to hear his side of the story. He reveals his admiration for Chef Saneka, who mentored him during his early career. Delobel recounts how proud he was when Saneka featured his first creation on the menu, only to discover that Saneka was claiming it as his own. After confronting Saneka about his recipe thefts, Delobel finds that without those borrowed ideas, Saneka’s cooking falters, ultimately leading to the loss of a star and Saneka’s subsequent suicide.
Despite his heartfelt account, Emi remains unconvinced. She decides to share screenshots of Delobel’s abusive messages on OZ, along with a poignant letter from her father before his demise. This revelation garners the support of several students, including Tom and Malik, who rally behind Emi’s cause, hoping to see Delobel ousted from the Institute.
In the management office, Antoine, Clotilde, and Olivia back Emi, calling for the cancellation of Delobel’s masterclass. However, Teyssier opts to hear Delobel’s perspective before making any decisions. Inviting him to his home later, Delobel reiterates the troubling behavior of Saneka, who had a history of stealing from his commis. Teyssier encourages Delobel to speak out about these incidents, but Delobel hesitates, unwilling to tarnish Emi’s image of her father. Ultimately, he chooses to cancel his masterclass and exit the Institute instead.
Meanwhile, Emi confronts Jasmine about her defense of Delobel, attributing it to his relationship as her son’s grandfather. Quentin intervenes, revealing that Delobel’s claims are indeed true—Saneka had stolen one of his recipes during his time as a commis. Although Delobel’s insistence led to Saneka’s removal of the dish, the chef’s reputation suffered, resulting in a loss of stars. Quentin attempts to help Emi see that her father was not the person she believed him to be, but her denial leads to an emotional confrontation, resulting in a slap.
Carla Critiques Coline’s Progress
In the studio, Carla takes on the role of mentor, guiding Coline in the art of aesthetics through floral arrangements. However, Coline struggles to grasp the concepts. Later, as Gaspard visits the cooking studio, he mocks Coline’s aesthetic challenges alongside Carla. Frustrated, Coline decides to leave, proclaiming she’d rather have poor taste than associate with bad people.
During Chef Armand’s class, Coline presents her dish and earns a mediocre score of 12/20. While the flavor impresses, her presentation still lacks finesse. Conversely, Carla scores a disappointing 10/20. Although Carla’s plating is impeccable, her dish is criticized for being too conventional.
After class, Carla helps Bérénice clean the kitchen, still reeling from her underwhelming grade compared to Coline’s. Disheartened by what she perceives as a lost connection with her cousin, she accidentally voices her disdain for Coline, unaware that Coline can hear her. The two exchange hurtful remarks before Coline storms out.
