Grogu returns… to the cinema

We guessed it a few months ago, but it’s now confirmed: the Star Wars film The Mandalorian & Grogu will arrive in French theaters on May 20, 2026 (and in the United States on May 22).

Little information is yet known about the feature film. We know that it will be the continuation of the events of The Mandalorian season 3, released last year. The film will be directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man, The Lion King), creator of the original series, and produced notably by Kathleen Kennedy (Indiana Jones) and Dave Filoni (The Clone Wars, Ahsokhas). Pedro Pascal will of course take over the main role, playing Mando.

Note that the other dates announced by Lucasfilm for future Star Wars films – December 16, 2026 and December 15, 2027 – are still intended for “untitled films”. They may fall to projects Star Wars: New Jedi Order by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi by James Mangold, currently in development.

Toy Story 5 is coming to theaters in 2026.

Another “untitled film” on the Disney calendar has just been revealed, with the official release of Toy Story 5 for June 19, 2026. Announced last February by Pixar, this new adventure of Woody, Buzz and their friends is still shrouded in mystery. In any case, we know that it will be released seven years after the 4th film which saw the separation of the famous duo.

The remake of Moana pushed back

There is also bad news in the batch of these announcements, since the live action remake of the animated film Vaiana, the legend of the end of the world is shifted from June 2025 to July 10, 2026. Directed by Thomas Kail (Hamilton, Fosse / Verdon), this film will see the return of Dwayne Johnson in the role of Maui.

The live action remake of Moana is postponed for a year.
