  • Google is giving Gboard a new feature.
  • The keyboard detects what language you type in the text field and adjusts the layout.
  • You can already try the feature with Google Translate.

Anyone who communicates with contacts in different languages knows the problem: you constantly have to adjust the keyboard layout manually. Google is now giving the Gboard keyboard a new function that can save you a lot of time in the future.

As the technology blog PhoneArena reports, Gboard automatically changes the layout depending on which language you are currently entering into the text field.

For example, you can open Google Translate and translate from Spanish to German. The keyboard recognizes this and automatically offers you the Spanish layout for Gboard. If you close the translator, the keyboard jumps back to the originally set layout.

According to PhoneArena, you must have Gboard version 11.6 and Google Translate version 6.33 installed in order to be able to use the feature. It is currently unclear whether the function will also be available for other apps.
