Why did Samsung wait so long? We will probably never have a real answer to this question, but we can at least be happy to see Galaxy smartphones adopt an old Android feature which allows system updates to be installed more smoothly.

The specialized site SamMobile explains that the recently announced Galaxy A55 adopts the Seamless Update function introduced at the time of Android 7 Nougat. This allows you to install updates without blocking the use of the phone.

Indeed, when a person accepts an update to the One UI interface, they can no longer use their Samsung smartphone for a certain period of time, while the installation takes place. With Seamless Update, this hazard disappears.

A story of scores

How it works ? The system is divided into two partitions and the smartphone only uses one at a time. And if partition A is active, the update will be installed on partition B without blocking the phone.

Once the installation is complete, you can then decide to restart the device whenever you want and the smartphone will then restart on partition B, up to date. The system alternates the two partitions like this with each upgrade.

SamMobile shares a screenshot showing the Seamless Update on the Galaxy A55.

We can see the changelog of the update and a loading progress bar at the bottom. The smartphone is not blocked during this process and the user can go about their business peacefully.

Everything suggests that other Samsung smartphones will also adopt this update system in the future.
